Firestone Complete Auto Care Support Ticket
Chat Expert Gave Me a Scam Number To Call

At my local Firestone, I was told to go online to get a rebate off the Standard/Lifetime Brake Service I paid for today. My store told me to go to Firestone.com Rebates (that was written on my receipt), but I couldn't find anything called rebates. I decided chatting online with a Firestone Complete Auto Care rep (expert as they are called) would be easiest. I told the expert that I needed to find the rebates page. She gave me a link for rewards. I told her that I needed one for rebates. (I have never submitted a reward with Firestone, and didn't realize until later that a reward is what most companies call a rebate.) Why didn't the expert just tell me that? Instead she apologized and gave me a number to call. I called the number and was informed that I had won a $100 gift card to Walmart. All I needed to pay was $4.00 for shipping and the card would be mine. I told the woman on the other end that I wanted to speak to a customer service rep about my rebates issue and she told me that all the lines were busy so since I had to wait, I was entitled to a gift card. Since I wasn't biting at the "free" gift card, she hung up on me. Meanwhile, my husband investigated to find out that this number I was given by the Firestone chat expert is a scam and the website connected to it has been shut down by Google. When I called the correct Firestone number, everyone I spoke with (I got rerouted and rerouted again) denied that I would have been given that number. The supervisor I spoke with covered for the chat expert and provided me with the correct number, saying that was the number the expert had given me. I told them I was shocked that Firestone would have a connection to a fraudulent "business". The customer service is where my complaint lies. I got the run around, poor service, no empathy, and am left wondering: Does Firestone deal with this off shore business to scam customers out of $4.00 for so-called free gift cards? The good part of this is that I did get my reward even though the reward site says it's for $10 and my Firestone store told me it was for $20, but that got taken care of in the very end. Still, disappointed that I was blown off about being given an inappropriate number to call for customer service and then made out to be a liar.
